In the month of May 2022. we saw massive fire on Koh-e-Suleman, mountain located at the Sherani District, north west of Balochistan Province to the Southern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On the other hand the fire of Panan Village of Kotli Satyan grabbed the wildland upto six kilometers and converted it into aches. Since yesterday, news are coming through social media that, some parts of Swat and Shangla forests caught on fire. Here the question arises in mind whether, the fire story is new phenomenon that happened yesterday or today? Is the concerned authority have the capability to control or minimise the risks posed to the wild life? Surely this is not any new story rather we have heard about Amazon Forest Fire (2019), The Kincade Wildfire (2019), camp fire (2018), Greek Forest Fire (2007), Indonesian Forest Fire (1997) etc.
We can say that all these happens by some human activity, dry weather, droughts, heat waves caused by weather change. As it is observed that wildfire almost destroy forest wealth, resources, the concerned bodies should devise a solid plans which may safeguard these GOD gifted assets.Forest fire is also considered as natural disaster, govt should immediately establish a monitoring cell within the forest department along with adopting modern preservation and conservation skills as practised in developed countries. Pakistan's forest coverd area is only five (5) %, of the total land, which is the among the lowest in the world. On the other hand the global average is declared as 31 % of the total land by United Nations.
Another sad story which i want to share with readers is my personal observation, which i saw during our hiking tour to Jaanshai meadows upper of blue water Kalam. We observed and witnessed that large scale compartments comprising trees were set on fire, mercilessly killed. Vegetation and habitats are destroyed, badly affected the beauty and ecosystem of the area.
Surely wildfire contributes in creating huge scale carbon emission which ultimately affects Ozone lyre. until and unless, carbon emissions are not controlled or reduced at earlier, threats do exist to the humanity and planet. So the industrialized nations should come ahead in light of COP 26, which is committed to Net Zero Goal; limiting global warming to net 1.5 celsius. Otherwise the world is going on disastrous way.
