Deforestation: global warming

Stop deforestation. Stop global warming. Save the biodiversity. Preserve and conserve the medicinal plants and herbs. Because clean and green environment makes us healthy and wealthy. Few years back i along with a friend visited the forest known as Miandam valley (Shonga Khwar) at district Swat, located at roughly 9000 feet above sea level. I shocked to see the trees are destroyed mercilessly. As visible in the picture, the blank area once covered with thick forests. We have heard stories that our ancestors used hunting for wild birds and animals. When i investigated that why all these wrongs happened, why the local people cuts the trees, i reached the conclusion that people are poor and have no means of earnings. The people have no enough land to cultivate and produce cash crops. They have no jobs. They sell timbers and support their families. The only means to sell timbers and earn their livelihood. It is good news that new trees are planted again in the area, but it takes long time to grow and have a thick forest again. It is noteworthy that local people along with forest department closely monitor and stop/debarred shepards. New generation is on the rise, but it needs attention of the father like.

Urbanization and Population

As per the data mentioned by Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination, Pakistan has the fifth largest population in the world, approximately 221 million people in the country, fourth largest in Asia and Second largest in the Muslim countries. This is really alarming for a developing country like Pakistan which lacks resources, strategic planning and a broad vision. Exponentially , our population is multiplying every year. Despite with meager resources ; it looks that we are heading towards more dependency on other nations, their financial institutions for more debts, interests and so on. Our agriculture sector is not equipped with to meet up with the nation's needs. Our farmers are less aware of the modern techniques of farming. They are not familiarized with the use of modern technologies. Thats why, we still import wheat, refined petroleum, Petroleum gas, Palm Oil, Raw Cotton, Oil seeds, fruits etc. In fact, our soil is rich in natural resources like, gas...
